"Strengthening mother-daughter relationships, one intentional conversation at a time."

OUR STORY

We didnt always have the bond you see today. We had to build it.

Our story began when Kyah was around 12 years old. Like many mothers and daughters entering the teenage years, our relationship began to change. We faced challenges with communication, honesty, trust, and self-esteem.

As a single mother and a Dean of Students at the time, Patricia was accustomed to solving problems, setting expectations, and holding young people accountable. But eventually, she realized something important: Kyah didn't need a dean—she needed her mom.

That realization changed everything.

We sought counseling, began having more open conversations, and started doing the difficult work of rebuilding trust. One of our biggest turning points came when Patricia stopped simply asking Kyah to open up and decided to open up herself. She shared parts of her own story—her struggles, experiences, mistakes, and feelings. The walls slowly began to come down.

We became intentional about spending time together. We talked—a lot. We went shopping, hung out, worked out together, read the Bible and devotionals, and created traditions that belonged to us. What started as small moments of connection eventually became the foundation of a completely different relationship.

One of those traditions was our yearly trip to Orlando. What began as intentional quality time became something we continued year after year—a reminder that strong relationships aren't built only during the big moments. They're built through the little things we consistently choose to do together.

From Mother & Daughter to Business Partners

As our relationship grew stronger, so did our ability to dream and build together.

In 2016, we took our shared love of fitness and started a business together from our basement. What began as Time2GetFit eventually grew into what is now MD Fitness.

Over the past 10 years, we've experienced the highs and lows of entrepreneurship side by side. We started in our basement, secured our first contract at a church, became a mobile fitness business, relocated to North Carolina, offered virtual services, worked at a big-box gym, and eventually opened our own fitness studio in 2020. In 2024, we took another leap of faith and moved MD Fitness into a larger space.

Building and running a business together for 10 years has tested our communication, patience, trust, and ability to work through disagreements. But it has also made our bond even stronger.

Through every transition, challenge, celebration, early morning, long day, and big decision, we've continued to choose our relationship first.

MD Fitness taught us something important: a strong mother-daughter bond doesn't mean you always agree. It means you've created a relationship strong enough to communicate, work through the hard moments, and continue moving forward together.

The Birth of The MD Bond

After years of hearing people comment on the closeness of our relationship, we began to realize that what we had built together could help other mothers and daughters.

That's how The MD Bond was born.

The MD Bond isn't based on theory. It's rooted in our real-life journey—from the difficult teenage years to becoming friends, business partners, and women who genuinely enjoy doing life together.

Our hope is that The MD Bond becomes more than a resource. We want it to become a movement that reminds mothers and daughters that no matter where their relationship is today, there is always an opportunity to start a conversation, create a new memory, and intentionally build the bond they want for tomorrow.

Because strong bonds don't just happen. They're built—one conversation, one experience, and one intentional moment at a time.
